My Friend Is Now In Heaven
Last month the LORD promoted our friend Frank Martin to Glory. I was able to spend his last day and a half at his side. I prayed, sang, and read God's Word to him and tried to meet his needs. I felt as Elisha when Elijah was to depart: I would not leave his side. I asked the LORD to allow me to have a love and ministry for the Guatemalan people double that of Bro. Frank. The Lord has given me much counsel and wisdom through Frank Martin and I will be eternally grateful for it.
After Bro. Frank's passing, I was asked to help in the funeral and was very willing to. I was able to be a pallbearer and escorted the vehicle in front on foot, as the people attending the funeral walked behind the hearse.
He touched so many lives through his 50 years or so in the ministry. He served in 3 countries, two continents, and reached out around the world through converts and radio.
If anyone would like for me to email them a photo of Bro. Frank, please email us at coates@minister.com. If anyone has photos, stories, cassettes or videos of Bro. Frank Martin, I would love to receive a copy, please email or mail them to any of the addresses below.
The Work Goes On!
We have been able to help out in the mission that Bro. Frank and Mrs. Martin started many months before. We travel with Mrs. Flo for the evening services in the city of Cantel as our language studies allow. Tammy sings specials in Spanish from time to time. I help out in the children's church. I was even able to translate and teach the worker and kids a new song in Spanish. We were able to carry 12 people in our van for a baptism service one Saturday. All in all 6 were baptized that day. We have also been able to meet a few English-speaking people, including a Jewish family, that we hope to be a witness to.
Language Studies are Great!
Our learning of the Spanish language is going very well. We speak in the present tense well and are learning the past tense now. We feel like there are new doors of communication opening all the time as we learn more and more. The whole family (minus 9-month-old Joseph) can speak some of the language now! Please keep us in your prayers.
